Avery's First Concert: Miley Cyrus

We had an awesome time at the Miley concert!! We went with Stacy Smyser and Lexi. We had awesome seats!! 8 rows from the stage, we could see Miley so well!! Avery and Lexi rocked out the entire time, and so did I!!

We ate at A&W, then went to DM for the concert. It was a great time, and Avery was so happy! She kept telling me thank you... so sweet! Now she wants to go to Taylor Swift!!

Everything else is going well. We are gearing up for the annual HALLoween party on the 24th. We always have so much FUN!!!

Avery and Tracy have been busy at school, and I have been working... same ol' same ol'. Last weekend Mark and Megan came down and we hung Tracy's new flat screen tv above the fireplace. It looks great!

The weekend before that we went to Graceland homecoming, that was lots of FUN!! Avery got to play with Martins daughter Cameron, Kias's daughter Riley, and Coffeys daughter Carci. They are all the same age, it was adorable!! They had a lot of fuN! Tracy and I had a great time too, unfortunately the YellowJackets did not win, but the chili was a winner!! Thanks to the Martins for opening their house to all of us.

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

Well, school is well on its way and Avery is doing so well. She was tested for reading, and she will begin at a Level C in Kindergarten. She loves to learn and loves school, she is such a joy!!

We have been very busy these last couple of weeks. It seems like we don't even have time to just hang out at home. We are going to work hard on making sure our lives slow down a bit, and we are able to enjoy more dinners at home as well as time. We are so blessed to have each other, and we really enjoy just being together.

So, Jason and Stephanie are doing very well. I understand she got a new job in Quincy, and Jason is still working at Pepsi. They are a great couple, I hope everything works out for them.

We went to Mark and Megans last weekend and had a great visit. Braedons bday is 9/23, so we took him a present and had cookie bars... yummy!! Avery enjoyed playing with the kids and I pretty much just held McKenna!! - baby hog!!

Avery is also well into dance now. She goes to dance every Tuesday from 5:45 - 6:30. Then we go to Subway and to the track for a walk. That's a lot of fun!!

I will no longer be in Facilities at work, my role is changing. I will now be full IT, I am excited for this change as it is great growth and opportunity for me. It will be challenging, but what's life without a little challenge?

Tracy loves being the Principal.. he set up a group called PACT (Parents Activity Coordinator Team), and I was on the ballot for Kindergarten lead parent. I was very excited to find out that I would be serving on the committee. Our first event is on 10/22, the Fall Festival carnival. I am excited, we will have so much fun!!

We are going to Hannibal this weekend, very excited... haven't been there since July, so it is definitely time. Going to help Dad with his garage sale, Mom's church is honoring Pa, and family reunion on Sunday. Fun, Fun!!

Also, big announcement: Carlie and John have announced their engagement and she has asked that I be her Matron of Honor. Very excited about that!!

Well, that's the Halls for the last couple of weeks. We are loving life, loving each other, and most of all Loving our Great Lord!!!

Lights, Camera, Action!!

Well, I finally had my Hollywood experience. I was an extra in the movie Dylans Wake. I spent 12 hours on Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Scottish Rites building in DM just waiting to hear "Rolling", "Cut", and "Action". I went with Carmen, Lisa, Ann, Loresa, and Marjory. It was so much FUN!!!

School is in full swing, along with dance. Avery is back in dance class, now on Tuesday nights at 5:45. She is doing ballet along with tap this year, she is very excited!!

Last weekend Rob Norris and MaryAnn were married, it was a joyous occasion in the Ozarks, despite the fact that Larry (Rob's Dad) was murdered the Tuesday before. The Norris family is amazing!! We went to St. Joseph on Monday to the visitation, and there was a very long line... Larry was a man with many friends. Why this happened, we will not know, but we have to have FAITH and know that God never gives us anything we cannot handle. WoW!! The Norris' are very strong people!

Avery's First Day of Kindergarten

Can you believe it... Avery is in Kindergarten. She was so excited!! Tracy and I walked her down the hallway, and she went to Mrs. Blakes room, gave her a hug and started her day. No tears from Mom or Avery, what a wonderful moment! My baby girl going to school! And then, it was off to the Principals office with Mr. Hall. I helped out at the school on Wed. 8/19, and had lots of fun! Tracy had an assembly, and he did a terrific job. I was so proud of him. He is an awesome Principal, I knew he would be.

Avery came home and was so tired! She had such an awesome time, she couldn't wait to go back the next day. Recently, we reconfigured her bedroom. We moved the bed, got a new dresser, and painted the walls. Her room looks awesome, she loves it!! It is a very cool room for a 5 year old!

We went to the State Fair on 8/15/09, it was a very nice day!! Avery did the trampolines, she tried to do a flip, but couldn't quite get over. We had a great time, but it was crowded! We have such a nice time together, we are a very happy family!!

I am feeling so blessed right now, my husband, my daughter, my family, my life... What a Great God we worship!!! Thank you for such an incredible life here on earth!!

Throw out a smile to the world.... You might get one back!

The Balloon Classic

What a fantastic week for the Indianola Balloon Classic. This is one of my most favorite things to do in the summer. We ususally see the balloons at least 3 times during the week. We succeded in doing that this year! We went to see the balloons on 8/1 at Darrah's house. Then again on Wednesday 8/5 (this time we went to the field with Ken and Ronna)... it was the mass night glow...beautiful! We went over to the Knolls balloon, and Avery got in it for a pic. We went to Darrah's on Thursday 8/6 with Van Allen teachers, and the kids played. Avery really enjoys playing with Logan and Meleana. Once again, lots of FUN!!

We left Friday at 4pm and headed to Clearance MO for Randy's 50th Birthday Party. Bub and his family were there, and it was nice visiting all of them. I haven't seen him in forever! Then we went to Mom and Dad's. Mom had to work on Saturday, but we went over to see Ma and then to Subway for lunch. Mom met us at WalMart later and we got all of Avery's school supplies...she is ready for school!!! Mom and Dad took Avery downtown to run around in the fountain, while Tracy and I had a date night at the movie theatre. We saw Funny People with Adam Sandler and The Purposal with Sandra Bullock. Our favorite was The Purposal... very funny! We had a great date night.

We left early Sunday morning and went to Ken and Ronna's. Tom's family was in town and we had a mini Hall reunion at Ken and Ronnas. We had a nice time. Jenny is pregnant and due Sept 21. She is having another girl, she looks great, and Raegan is adorable! We had a great time.

The weekends seem to fly by, and another week of work is ahead. This week should be a little bit less hectic.. hopefully. Our plan is to stay home all week, and get some housework done. We are on the go a lot. Avery will be starting Kindergarten soon, and she will need to get on a much needed routine... I cannot believe she is old enough to go to school... oh my goodness!!!

**Avery is so funny! She just loves hanging out with us. She told us that she would never marry, because she wants to live with us forever. I am sure when she is 18, her tune will have changed, but I do love the innocence of a child. She also keeps giving us the peace sign and saying Deuces... she is something else!

Summer Fun

Well... July has ended, but not without lots of FUN first!! Tracy and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, 10 YEARS!!! We have an awesome marriage and family, we are so blessed!! For our anniversary we went to Hannibal. Mom and Dad kept Avery and Tracy and I did what we love to do, and that is the very simple, dinner and a movie. Each year we try and plan something for the other person, but this year we decided on an old staple... what we did on our first date (dinner and movie). We went to the new Japanese steakhouse in Quincy, it was delicious! Then went to the new theatre in Hannibal, we saw 2 movies. The Hangover and The Ugly Truth (both were very FUNNY). It was a very nice evening, we just loving being together!

Before we celebrated our Anniversary, Mom came up and we had a great visit. On Wednesday Ragbrai was going through Chariton. I worked in the am, but took the afternoon off to enjoy the festivities. Allysa Spring and her boyfriend Adam were engaged during Ragbrai and we went to their engagement party (very fun!!). Then Mom and Avery hung out, and Tracy and I went up town to see Hairball... they were awesome! We got home and went to bed as we were headed for Adventureland in the morning.

We went to Adventureland on Thursday, and we had a great time. It was a gorgeous day... Mom got soaked on the Log Ride, and our favorite ride was Sawmill Splash. We went to Applebeees afterward to eat supper, then headed home. It was a great evening.

On Friday we headed for Hannibal... and Friday was our Anniversary!!

Saturday, July 25... we went to Stephanies house down by St Louis and took a float trip with Mom, Dad, Mike, Shayla, the girls, and Jason, Stephanie. It was about a 4.5 mile float, and we started around 1ish...we ended at Stephs house with a BBQ around 5:30. It was a lot of FUN!! I got burnt (imagine that), but at least Casper got some color (no matter if it was bright red). Avery had a blast, she is a fish. She loves the water, I hope to someday be able to install a pool at our house, and she can enjoy all the swimming she wants. We will definitely make the float trip an annual event.

On Sunday, we went to lunch at FiddleSticks and then headed home. It was a very nice time, I love family time!!

Avery had her first swim lesson on Monday. I was off work so I got to take her. She did awesome. She went off the diving board... (on her first day)! I was so proud I got to see that! She is my little blessing, and I adore her so much!! We then picked up Tracy and had lunch at Subway... my husband, the Principal.. I am so proud of my family!!

Finally, it was back to work and what a busy week it was! Avery was invited to Bible School with Lexi Smyser from 6-8 every night, she had a blast! She and Lexi are great friends, I really hope they remain so close.

On Saturday we went to the Darrahs for some balloon fun!! I love the Classic. I could not believe that a man was tied to a cluster of helium balloons and went up in the air, AWESOME!!! We had fun with Darrahs, Comers, and Aulwess... before we went to Indianola, we spent the day freezing corn at Grandma Gerts, we did 40 dozen... WOOO-WEEEE. Lots of Corn!

On Sunday we went to church at the Methodist church in Chariton. Avery performed 2 of her songs from VBS, she did awesome. She has so much energy and a love for performing (I guess you could say she gets that from me).

Tracy and Avery are true blessings in my life, I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful family!! I love you guys!

2009 Vacation

WHAT A FANTASTIC VACATION!!!

7/15/2009
We left Iowa around 6am... all 3 of us were very excited. We got to Oklahoma City around 4ish and had lunch with Kyle White and his family. We had a very nice lunch and then went to a fab little yogurt shop. We visited with them for awhile and then headed off to Texas. We got to TX around 8ish, and Mary Frances greeted us at the door holding the twins. They are gorgeous!! Handsome, little men. Avery and Owen clicked right away and were performing for us in no time. They did their Michael Jackson and Elvis routines for us.... absolutely hilarious!!

7/16/2009
We went to Dallas to the Aquarium today, it was awesome! They had live animals, lots of sea creatures, but our favorite was the shark tank you walked through. Very cool!! We then went to Incredible Pizza, that was lots of fun!! This place had a huge pizza buffet, games, go karts, bowling, and much more!! Too much fun!! The kids had a blast. We then went back to the Nelsons, played some games and just relaxed.

7/17/2009
Tracy and Philip went to tour the Dallas Cowboys new stadium. They were most impressed with the 7-story plasmas... Tracy loved the stadium. Guess we will have to go to a game their sometime (sounds fun to me!!). We stayed at the house and took the kids swimming. Avery got a TX thorn in her foot and that was very traumatic. I was telling MF how little girls are a bit different than boys when they get hurt. While we were over there consoling Avery, Owen was pulling TX thorns out of his feet as if it were nothing (too funny!). We then went to the Stockyards and MF bought Avery a cowgirl hat. She looked so cute! Then we went back to the Nelsons and had spaghetti. We visited and relaxed, it was so hot down there.... 104 that day!

7/18/2009
We left Texas around 6ish and headed to Springfield MO. We got there around 2ish and visited with Linda and Ron for awhile. They have a very nice home. After that we went to Cami and Erics, they also have a very nice home. Little Erica is adorable, and Cameron is a ham! Linda and Ron took us out with Cami and Eric to a Japanese steak house... YUM!!! Then we went back to Cami and Erics and let the kids play.

7/19/2009
We went to their church, and it was so nice. We loved the children's time with Holly the puppet. We had a little subway for lunch and then off to Amy and RonEarls for a swim. They have a nice home with a community pool. Ron was teaching Avery how to kick off the wall and swim on her back, she really enjoyed that. We had a great time, and then we had a BBQ at RonEarl and Amy's.

7/20/2009
Linda made us breakfast before we left and we headed to St Joseph MO. We got to Todd and Angies around 3ish and hung out with the girls until Todd got home. We then went to Whisky Creek for dinner. We had a very nice visit with them, and then we were homeward bound. We got home around 12:30am. We had such an awesome vacation!! So much FUN!!!

We then relaxed on Tuesday and on Wednesday we went to Tracy's Dr. He had his procedure, and has been relaxing. During the weekend we went over to Humeston where Ken and Ronna were camping. We had a nice visit with everyone there. Sunday, we did not do anything. Just stayed home and relaxed. Monday it is back to work. A 3 day weeek, then off to the float trip!

4th of July 2009

We had a great 4th. It was the first year in awhile we did not go to Hannibal, but we had lots of fun in Iowa!!

I first have to tell you about the walk we went on one night last week. Tracy, Avery, and I were walking to the creek (we walk there and throw rocks in, we see who can hit these concrete culvert things)... anyway, on our way back Avery asked if I would snap off on of the limbs from a tree so she could carry it back. So, I did and here is the reason she wanted that limb (this might bring tears to your eyes)... "Mommy, look I am waving my tree just like the people did for Jesus when he was on the donkey." How awesome is that!!! Then, she began singing God is an Awesome God... I know my heavenly Father was smiling down on her! What a joy she is!!

Thursday we went to see Yankee Doodle Pops, we sat on the top of AE parking ramp, that was a lot of FUN!

Friday, 7/3 I didn't have to work! Niiiiiiiiiice!! So, we went to DM and had a shopping day. We first went to get our nails and toes done, Avery and I had a blast! We used our giftcard from Daddy at Christmas... Avery loved the pedicure, she called it "the bath" We went to Kohls, ate at Legends, and went to Gordmons. Avery was supposed to go to Macy's pool party, but it was canceled due to rain.... so we went to see Ice Age 3 in 3-D. Great movie! We had a blast.

Saturday, we went to Knoxville where the Hall's were all camping. We played in the ladder golf/bags tournament... and Ryan Hall and I won the bags tournament ($15.00) prize, sweet! We did not do as well on the golf... : ( We had delicious chops, and saw some fireworks. Avery decided to stay the night with Granma and PaPa, so Tracy and I went home and crashed. I was so tired, winning takes a lot out of you : )

Sunday, we picked up Avery and went to DM to exchange Avery's clothes at Childrens Place. Then we ran to HyVee and got a few groceries for our trip to TX. We leave on Wednesday 7/8. We are so excited!!

We had a great 4th of July, Avery is something else! What a blessing my family is!! I love my husband and daughter so much!

** Avery was walking down the hallway humming the wedding march, Tracy asked her if she was getting married and she said "Yep"... he then asked her if she ever had a boyfriend that Mommy and Daddy did not like, what would she do... she said (and I quote) "then I won't like him either!!" Notice I documented this for future reference!!

Eric and Nicoles Wedding

What a beautiful wedding in Missouri on Saturday, June 27. Eric and Nicole were married in Nelsonville, and their reception was in Palmyra. Tracy made a Cardinal banner for them, adorable! Love Birds!! We had lots of fun! I met Jessica Donath and Angie (Howards granddaughter).. they were very cool.

Before the wedding, Mom came to our house and stayed a couple nights. She took Avery to the zoo on Thursday 6/25/09, they had a great time. Then they picked me up from work and we went shopping. That was a blast! It was fun watching Mom try on different things at Whitehouse. Avery was dancing around in all the dressing room mirrors, of coarse very entertaining. We ate at Red Robin, and got home around 9ish. It was a fantastic day!

Friday, I had to work... Mom and Avery just hung out around the house. Avery had her final t-ball game on Friday night @ 7. We went to the game and then left for Hannibal right after the game. We got to Hannibal around midnight.

And finally on Sunday, we went to see Ma at her apartment. She seems to be doing very well. She has had a tough couple of years, but I have the best memories of ping pong, bumper pool, JandS restaurant, hamburgers, and mac/cheese. Saturdays at Ma's, those were the days!

We got home on Sunday evening, and went to pick up Belle. She was at Ken and Ronnas for the weekend, silly little dog...she was so tired! She crashed when she came home. And so did we!!

It was back to work on Monday... we went for a walk (all the way over to Ken and Ronnas). Avery and Belle were getting tired, but they both made it. Ken and Ronna sold their house, so we went over to take a look at it. They finished the basement and it looks awesome! The couple that bought it are a younger couple... We are planning our Country Block party, so we can meet all the new neighbors.

Texas is not too far away. We leave on Wednesday 7/8/09. We will be stopping in OK to see Kyle on the way down, and then stay with the Nelsons until Saturday. Then it is off to Springfield to visit the Rosendahls, and on Monday it is off to St. Jo to visit our friends there. We are looking forward to our trip, can't wait to see everyone!!

Father's Day Weekend

WOW!! What a fantastic weekend!!

Avery's t-ball game was canceled due to rain on Friday night, so... we went grocery shopping (WOO-HOO, FUN!!). After that we went to see Up in Indianola. Tracy, Avery, and I were the only people in the theatre...how cool is that! It was a great movie, we saw it in 3-D. Avery cried during 2 parts, she gets into the movies (okay, so do I).

Avery was so excited for Saturday. She got invited to Logan and Melena's b-day party in Indianola and a tea party in Chairton. First we went to the B-day party, it was so much fun. Chad and Kim planned games, relay races, and the ultimate marshmallow shooters!! We left there around 11:30 and grabbed a bite at Arbys. We went home and Avery changed into her brown dress, lollitop hat, and "sassy" shoes (as she called them). We went to Glendas tea party at the Lutheran church in Chariton. It was so much fun. The kids made hats, gloves, photo frames, had lunch, tea, and a fashion show. Glenda gave each child a gift bag at the end of the party, what a great idea!! That was so much fun for the kids!! We got home around 4:30, and Daddy had been working on someones playset... and FINISHED!!! He even moved it (by himself)...seriously, sometimes I think I'm married to SuperMan. Avery took a quick nap, as she was so tired, but when she woke up...it was time to swing! Tracy mowed a path in the weeds, so we went on a hike... what a great day!!!

Sunday was Father's Day!! I am so blessed to be married to such a great man. Tracy is an amazing husband and Father, God sure did have an awesome plan for me in the "sharing my life with someone" department. Good looking, charming, helpful, kind, loving... HELLO PRINCE CHARMING!! Avery and I got Daddy a BBQ Grill... we used it that day for our cook out. Ken, Ronna, Todd, Karcy, Shelby, Grandma, Jo, Troy, Andrea, Madison, Tanner, and Greyson all came over for the Fathers Day cook out. We ate and played games... it was great to see the kids, we haven't seen them in awhile. After everyone left, I cleaned up the dishes and went downstairs to watch Stick It (gymnastics movie) with my family. Can a girl have it all... YES I DO!

Today is Monday, and it is back to work. In 2 weeks and 3 days we leave for Texas!!! I am so very excited. We are going to visit The Nelson's. I am sure I will have some great stories to tell.

**this weekend I was spelling 3 and 4 letter words for Avery and she knew them all!! She is doing so good with sounding out words, and reading her "beginner" books. She is a smart cookie... I love her so much!!

T-Ball is FUN!!

Hey y'all...

Well, we are in our final last 2 weeks of t-ball and Avery is having so much FUN!!! I love watching the games! Although, I don't know what is more entertaining... watching the girls or watching Curt and Tracy coach = )

Summer has started, it is getting hot and humid!! Oh how I love Iowa summers (at the pool)! Avery starts swim lessons next month and she is very excited about that.

Friday was Ronna's Birthday and we went to the state fair grounds and hung out with the campers. It rained and rained and rained some more... but, we still had lots of fun!!

I went to Val's funeral last Saturday, it was so sad... but a very nice service. She will be greatly missed. Val was a great person, and I know she is in heaven walking with Jesus. I was so proud of Tammie for going up and speaking about her memories of Val, that took a lot of courage.

After the funeral we went camping... this time at the Lake with the Smyser crew. Saturday was Karcy's birthday, Avery called to wish her a Happy Birthday... she loves being a Mommy!! We adore little Shelby. We had fun camping on Saturday... it did not rain, it was a beautiful night.

And finally, on Sunday guess what we did... we went CAMPING again!! This time we were at Madison Baker's birthday party (Redhaw). It was fun too! A great weekend.

It is not Wednesday, and I am already looking forward to the weekend. Friday we have a t-ball game, Saturday..Avery is going to a Birthday party then a tea party (and we have to get grocery's at some point), and Sunday is Fathers Day and we are having a BBQ.

Okay -

so I decided to use this blog to post a journal all about my precious family!! I will add pics when I can, but for now I just want a place to keep a family journal. So, let me catch you up... Avery is 5 now, she is full of joy!! She finished pre-school with Mrs. Aulwess... we only received 2 messages all year. One phone call and one email. Avery asked a lot if I got a phone call, email, or text from Mrs. Aulwess, and when I said No, she would see... that was because I was a good girl!! She is so funny!! So, we got the phone call because she wouldn't sit on the carpet during learning time, she was busy on the play phone. (That's my girl...I have always told her it is rude to talk to someone while they are on the phone.) And, the email because she pushed the elevator button... They are definitely not supposed to do that. So, she was grounded from treats, snacks, and Disney Channel... she made it through her punishment. She had lots of fun at Pre-school too... they made lots of things, went on field trips, and learned so much! I am proud of my little graduate.

We received the "ready for Kindergarten" letter, and she is prepping for a year of all day school! She will do great, she will have Mrs. Blake, she is very excited!! Another piece of exciting news for her is that her Daddy will be the Principal at her school!!! Yes...I am so proud of my family. Tracy found out on June 1 that he will be the Principal at Columbus Elementary School in Chariton. How about that, he graduated in May with his Masters in Admin, and got his job June 1... I am so proud!!!

Avery just finished dance. They had their recital, and she did awesome! I was a super Mom (that's a cool way of saying backstage crowd control), but it was fun!! Hey, I got a free t-shirt. Avery did fantastic, she danced to the song, If you could talk to the Animals...adorable!!

And, she turned 5 on May 18. We had her family party at Stellas, and her friend party at the VanAllen gym. Dizzy the clown came and entertained the children...it was lots of fun.

Tracy is busy putting together her swingset that we and all the grandparents got her. We are close to being finished, but it is definitely a project!

Well, that is my quick update... we are into t-ball season and I am sure I will have lots of stories for that... below is the latest:

Avery had her first t-ball game, she danced and played in the dirt... she also found out that after the game they get a free pop at the concession stand. All of the sudden, I hear her yell..."Hey Mom, they have food in here." By the time I got to the stand, she had already ordered hotdogs, popcorn, and pretzels... When I told her she had to pay, she was crushed. She said, "but the pop is free." Too funny!!

Today is partly sunny, looks like there might be some rain in the forecast...she is supposed to have a game tonight at 7:00, but we will have to wait and see.
